Well, the first day in October is an eventful one. Both UFC and Bellator held their fights on the same day. Besides UFC and Bellator there were regional fights around the US and UK. Cage Warriors 44 was held in London and Black Eye promotions, the promotion which signed Marloes Coenen held their inaugural event, a breast cancer awareness event.Back to the UFC and Bellator, both put in my opinion a very good card. For Bellator out of 8 bouts which was on the card only 3 fights went the distance with 3 fights end with KO or TKO and 2 fights ended via subission. As for the UFC only 2 fights went the distance. The are the Title fight between Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson and the Fight of the night Matt Wiman against Mac Danzig. 5 of the UFC fights ended with a KO or a TKO while the rest ended with a submission win.
Here's the list of things which impresses me this week
Most Impressive in win: Blagoi Ivanov
It's kinda tie between him and Rumble Johnson but I have to give the Bulgarian a nod because he showed everything against Zak Jensen. Solid and accurate striking, an incredible ground game and the ability to finish.
KO of the day: Anthony Johnson
Left high Kick to the head and that's all she wrote. Johnson hurt Brenneman earlier with a barrage of strikes and solid take down but his finish was sweet. As sweet as chocolate cake.
I still have bragging rights win: Dominick Cruz
Yup. He still has bragging rights over the bantamweight division in the UFC. His performance is, well Dominick Cruz like. Head movement, footwork, unorthodox angles and his superior wrestling won him the bout and helped him retained his 135 lbs title. People might say, he doesn't finish fights, I say just watch how he fights is a joy to be watch.
Fight of the day: Wiman vs Danzig
There a reason why this fight was fight of the night. That reason is Heart. Both fighters showed great heart and really good striking especially in the clinch. Neither one wanted to back down and that spells a great fight in my book.
I have a chance to win this tournament win: Ron Sparks
He is undefeated and he fights like a monster. Great combo finish over Holata. I believe the finals would pit him against Ivanov now the tournament favorite.
Submission of the day: Stefan Struve via triangle choke and Paul Sass via Heel hook
Stefan just because he survived the Rampage like slam from Pat Barry. The real winner is Paul Sass. The hell hook is a freakishly painful move to do let alone to attempt but man he got it right when he latched on to Michael Johnson's leg.
