Roger Gracie sign with the UFC

Roger Gracie, one of my favorite jiu jitu and MMA fighters signed witht the big brother of MMA companies, UFC acording to a report by Sherdog.com

Roger Gracie has an MMA record of 4-1 with his last fight in a September 10 was his first loss in his professional MMA career. The loss was to Mo Lawal, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion via TKO.

There are news about Roger moving camp to Blackhouse which host a number of MMA fighter such as the UFC Middle weight champ Anderson Silva, the Nogueira brothers, Lyoto Machida, Feijao Calvacante just to name a few.

Original report below

Roger Gracie has reportedly signed to compete as a light heavyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

GracieMag reported the news Friday on Twitter, revealing that the former Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist would join the UFC’s 205-pound ranks. No debut date for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace was mentioned, but the outlet stated that Gracie (Pictured) could find himself training with longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva before he enters the Octagon for the first time.

Born in Brazil but now residing in England, Gracie is one of the world’s best grapplers. In 2005, the 30-year-old won both the heavyweight and absolute divisions at the ADCC submission grappling championships, submitting Shinya Aoki, Fabricio Werdum, Alexandre Ribeiro and Ronaldo Souza en route to the absolute title.

Gracie racked up a 4-0 record to begin his MMA career, submitting Ron Waterman with an armbar in his 2006 pro debut. The Brazilian then took out an undersized Yuki Kondo in 2008 before finishing former UFC heavyweight king Kevin Randleman in his 2010 Strikeforce debut. Another submission win -- this time over UFC veteran Trevor Prangley -- would come before Gracie tasted MMA defeat for the first time, falling by knockout to onetime Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed Lawal on Sept. 10.

Official: Melendez vs Masvidal for Strikeforce in December

From MMA Fighting
by Ariel Herwani

Masvidal in his fight against Imada
Gilbert Melendez will have to wait a little longer to fight in the UFC.

Strikeforce announced on Tuesday that "El Nino" will in fact defend his lightweight title against Jorge Masvidal on Dec. 17 in San Diego, Calif. The card will take place at Valley View Casino Center, and tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Melendez met with UFC president Dana White over the weekend to discuss the possibility of unifying the Strikeforce and UFC lightweight title but no deal was reached.

"I just wanted to discuss my future with the organization," Melendez said Monday on The MMA Hour. "I just expressed that I want to fight the best."

Melendez (19-2) has won his last five fights in a row. He most recently defeated Tatsuya Kawajiri via first-round TKO at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley, which also took place in San Diego.

Masvidal (22-6) is 2-0 since returning to Strikeforce, defeating Billy Evangelista and KJ Noons.

Also officially announced for the card is Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Hiroko Yamanaka for the Strikeforce women's featherweight title, Gegard Mousasi vs. Ovince St. Preux and local favorite KJ Noons is expected to meet Billy Evangelista.

The main card will air live on Showtime.

Gilbert Melendez heading to the UFC, Says Dana White

According to an article from MMA Junkie, Strikeforce Lightweight champ is touted to be leaving Strikeforce to join big brother organization, UFC

In the very own words of the Bald Father, El Nino will join UFC roster ASAP. Not only that, Gilbert Melendez might get a title shot if the timing is right. Dana continued by saying the 155lbs division in the UFC is so stacked and that it is difficult to give him a lee way against other fighters.

In other words, he has to work for it.

Another Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu fighter in the UFC roster. That brings all four of the Skrap Pack and Jason "Mayhem" Miller in the UFC.

So Dana, are we going to see Shields and Miller going at it again?
