Georges St. Pierre recently revealed that his former opponent Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy was training with him in Montreal, Canada ahead of a UFC 137 title clash with Carlos Condit.
Now two of Hardy’s fellow Rough House fighters - Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley and Andre Winner - will be following in his footsteps.
“I go to Amsterdam next week to finish up my sparring. Then me and Andre Winner will be linking up with the champion himself, Georges St-Pierre, who's a good friend of Andre Winner's now, and I'll be doing the last bit of prep at Tristar,” Daley told MMA Junkie Radio.
Daley is preparing for a fight with UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti. It takes place in Montreal on October 21st and so it makes sense that he conclude his preparations in the city. But it is also a boost for St. Pierre to have Daley and Winner around for some sparring.
Both have extensive striking backgrounds and are well-placed to replicate Condit’s attacking style, or at least put St. Pierre under the kind of striking pressure he will welcome as he sharpens himself for the ‘Natural Born Killer’.
If Daley beats Fioravanti he will be on a two-fight winning run and 2-2 in his last four, having lost to Nick Diaz and Tyron Woodley respectively. He desperately wants a rematch with Diaz and is hoping that the UFC will take him back so it can be set up.
Their first fight ended with a TKO late in the first round but was a huge crowd-pleaser from start to finish. It has been nominated as a 2011 Fight of the Year and a rematch would surely bring plenty of buys to any pay-per-view package.
