Bellator 53: Welterweight Semifinalist - Douglas "The Phenom" Lima

Douglas "The Phenom" Lima is the final semifinalist for the Bellator Season 5 welterweight tournament contestant. The winner of the tournament gets a USD 100,000 and a shot for the Bellator Welterweight belt currently held by Ben Askeren.

Lima currently trains with American Top Team Atlanta, which is an extension of the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida. The head coach for ATT in Atlanta is former UFC fighter Roan Carneiro who has fought the likes of Anderson Silva, Jon Fitch, Matt Horwich and Ryo Chonan throughout his career.

Lima Currently holds a record of 19-4 losses with his last lost came via decision to Eric Dahlberg in the year 2009. Currently riding on a 7 fight win streak with 4 finishes from those 7 bouts and 3 of those finishes comes via submission. He is the Maximum Fighting Championship welterweight title holder which he won by defeating Jesse Juarez and he defended his title against UFC vet Terry Martin and won the fight via TKO in the 1:14 of the first round.

There is no question that where Lima's strength lies, on the ground. With his potent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu his ground game is dangerous. This doesn't mean he can't stand and trade. He is well verse in the art of 8 limbs aka Muay Thai (aren't all fighter who comes from ATT)

His next fight with Chris Lozano would be an exciting fight. As a fan I'm hoping to see a Knock out or a submission finish in the 3rd round.

By the way, his brother Dhiego Lima is fighting this weekend on MFC 31
